The ceremony was beautiful and I have never seen my friend so nervous in my life, and that wasn't even at the actual ceremony. It looked like she was going to pass out up there on the altar at the rehersal. I can't say that I'd blame here, though. If I were in her position I'd probably do the same thing.
The rehearsal dinner was held at a place called Pietro's Bluff not ten minutes from my house. The food was good, but the wine was even better. I got to see old friends from high school that I haven't even thought about since graduation. You might think that would be a good thing, but I was fortunate enough to meet some quality people back then and it was good to have a chance to reconnect.
The ceremony went off without a hitch. Everyone in the wedding party looked absolutly gorgeous (including myself, naturally). Afterwards we spent a few hours driving around St. Louis in a limo hitting all the scenic spots for photos. Apparently, it was a day for weddings because every place we stopped there were three to four other wedding parties waiting to take their turn. Good news was that we all got free ice cream at Ted Drewes.
The reception couldn't have been more fun. I got cornered by my high school girlfriend's mom up at the head table, but we surpirsingly had a plesant conversation. I finally got to spend some time with my girlfriend at the reception, but it was worth the wait. She looked absolutly fantastic in her violet cocktail dress, and we managed to get a few dances under our belt before the open bar took its toll on the both of us.
Nikki caught the bouqet. I missed the garter, but I got nothing to worry about--the kid who caught it had to be only seven years old.
Now, Matt and Liz are in St. Croix doing the thing that newlyweds do. Nikki is getting ready to start her summerjob in Lennox, Mass and I'm gearing up to start my new job in June. And we all go marching on.
