Look Up

I pulled my car into my parking spot next to my apartment early this morning. As I was getting out of the car, I just happened to look up to see a beautiful full moon framed by rapidly moving dark clouds. The contrast between the two was so sharp, it seemed almost unreal--like a moving photo negative.

I stood there for a few moments just marveling at this sight, wishing that my eyes could record every passing cloud as it became illuminated by the moon. I don't know why it was so moving, but I can't deny how the moment made me feel-small, slightly insignificant, but filled with a joyful awe. It's times like these that I know that God is out there.

You don't have to look for God in far off places. He's right there in your backyard. He's in your friends and loved ones. He's there in the quiet early mornings you spend writing about a full moon you just saw. Sometimes you have to just look up.
